WARNING
NFT FREE ZONE

At L-13 we don’t do NFTs as they destroy the planet and artists minds.

We specialise in RFTs*.

These prints are printed with eco-friendly inks by unskilled workers at the L-13 Light Industrial Workshop.

*Real F-ing Things are replete with ink marks, fingerprints, smudges, misprinting, bumps and abrasions. We make no apology for this. RFTs are beautiful as they come.

For the Viral Art Car Boot Fair (Year of the Crown Virus 2020) we set Jamie Reid  head to head with Jimmy Cauty in the battle of the Queens, reanimating Reid’s subversive ‘God Save the Queen’ iconography for this purpose.

3 colour screen print on recycled 1200 micron grey pulp card
43 x 62cm
Signed & numbered by the artist

Made specially for the Viral Art Car Boot Fair

This print is a re-working of the image created by Jamie Reid for the Scorzayzee record Great Britain, featuring the Queen in the same blood diamond crown she wore for her 1977 Jubilee photographs as used by Reid in his iconic God Save The Queen works.

Available in TWO Edition Options:

Negatively Positive
Edition of 250
Pearl black, yellow & magenta on pearl silver/white

Positively Negative
Edition of 250
Pearl silver/white, magenta & yellow on pearl black

WARNING:

Each print is unique with significant variation in offsetting, misprinting, smudging, marks, tears and creases. These so-called ‘defects’ are intentional and inherent to the hand-made nature of the work and the production process. These marks are testament to works made by vandals, hooligans, and specially untrained technicians. We cannot respond to requests for specific prints, all are unique, all will be cherished.

WARNING:
L-13 screen-prints are not slick lifestyle products: more the work of vandals,  hooligans and artists than interior designers. These prints have the requisite amount of misprint and offsetting, overprinting and physical abrasion. They may have additional finger prints, smudges, tears, dents, creased edges and other marks that bare testimony to their making. The hip will find this beautiful and the squares will find it abhorrent.

*Détournement: A détournement (French: [detuʁnəmɑ̃]), meaning “rerouting, hijacking” in French, is a technique developed in the 1950s by the Letterist International, and later adapted by the Situationist International (SI), that was defined in the SI’s inaugural 1958 journal as “[t]he integration of present or past artistic productions into a superior construction of a milieu”.

**Recuperation: In the sociological sense, recuperation is the process by which politically radical ideas and images are twisted, co-opted, absorbed, defused, incorporated, annexed and commodified within media culture and bourgeois society, and thus become interpreted through a neutralized, innocuous or more socially conventional perspective. More broadly, it may refer to the cultural appropriation of any subversive works or ideas by mainstream culture. It is the opposite of détournement, in which images and other cultural artefacts are appropriated from mainstream sources and repurposed with radical intentions.
