BILLY CHILDISH EXHIBITION
TO OPEN NEXT WEEK
IN SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA
Billy Childish
wolves, sunsets and the self
April 23–May 30
Lehmann Maupin, Seoul
Opening reception: Thursday, April 23, 5–7 PM
As things start to return to normal in some parts of the world, we are pleased to announce an exhibition of new paintings by Billy Childish at Lehmann Maupin, Seoul. For this, his sixth exhibition with the gallery and his first with them in South Korea, Childish has created a body of work emblematic of his “radical traditionalist” approach. Pulling from themes found throughout art history—a verdant landscape, a sunset, a still life—Childish presents intensely personal vignettes that feel archetypical, vibrating with the kinetic energy of a moment lived.

As the spring mating season gets into full swing, the sounds of the Woodwose may be heard echoing through glade and glen. Though it may be tempting for some to venture into the woods we advise strict social distancing. Nesting boxes have been strategically placed at intervals in the depths of Cobham Wood, Kent. Birthing is in early January 2021. It may then be possible to tentatively approach the larger males, but if you choose to shake hands be it at your own risk.
